Amazon has received a patent for an airborne fulfillment centre, from which its drones will be launched to deliver customer orders.
Floating at an altitutde of 45,000ft, a drone will be released from the warehouse airship to fulfill the delivery, reported oilprice.com.
Amazon was quoted by the website as saying: "When the UAV departs the AFC, it may descend from the high altitude of the AFC using little or no power other than to guide the UAV towards its delivery destination and/or to stabilise the UAV as it descends."
Stocked with a wide range of products, the airship is expected to be used even during sporting events.
The retailer expects the airborne warehouse to serve as an advertising board, enabling customers to order items on display.
