Deals this week: Casper Sleep, Modacruz Elektronik Hizmetler ve Ticaret, Zalando


Mattress and bedding manufacturer Casper Sleep has closed a series C round of funding to raise $170m.

The US-based company plans to use the funds for product innovation.

Modacruz Elektronik Hizmetler ve Ticaret has raised $2m in series B round of funding from Middle East Venture Partners, Hummingbird Ventures and Nevzat Aydin.

Based in Turkey, Modacruz operates an online platform for retail of used women fashion items.

Modacruz intends to use the funds for the next phase of user acquisition and further expansion in Turkey.

German clothing e-retailer Zalando SE has reached an agreement with Bestseller United to form a joint venture.

Based in Denmark, Bestseller sells clothing and accessories for women, men, teenagers and children.

"Modacruz intends to use the funds for the next phase of user acquisition and further expansion in Turkey."

The joint venture will provide wholesale e-commerce services.

US-based handcrafted footwear retailer M.Gemi has raised $16m in series C funding round.

Burda Principal Investments, Accel, General Catalyst Partners, and Forerunner Ventures participated in the funding round.

Elegance Optical International Holdings, an optical frames and sunglasses manufacturer and trader based in Hong Kong, has reached an agreement for private placement of 64.72 million shares.

Priced at HK$1.5 ($0.19) a share, the placement will result in raising HK$97.1m ($12.44m) representing approximately 20% of the existing issued share capital value of the company.
