India retail industry registered a 12.6% decline in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring decreased by 8.28% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 29.8% share in July 2021, recording decrease of 2.38% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in India retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.49% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India retail industry in July 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 68.26% in July 2021, a 22.79% drop over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 17.63% share, an increase of 48.94% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 7.56%, registering a 14.29% decline from June 2021.
4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 2.52%, down 16.67% over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in India IT recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 12.56% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India retail industry during July 2021 over June 2021.
Amazon posted 329 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a drop of 19.95% over the previous month, followed by Target with 19 jobs and a 171.43% growth. NIKE with 11 IT jobs and The ODP with 9 jobs, recorded a 57.14% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Avenue Supermarts recorded a 60% increase with 8 job postings during July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.96%, up by 6.14% from June 2021. Entry Level positions with a 24.69% share, a decline of 35.53% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 14.11% share, down 32.53% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.25%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
