South Korea’s retail industry registered a 41.0% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 22.58% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 23.13% share in August 2021, recording an increase of 3.59% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in South Korea’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100.77% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of South Korea’s retail industry in August 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 58.46% in August 2021, registering a 192.31% flat growth over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 28.46% share, an increase of 516.67% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 11.54%, registering a 150% rise from July 2021.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 1.54%, flat growth over the previous month.
Top five retail companies in South Korea’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 251.35% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of South Korea’s retail industry during August 2021 over July 2021.
Coupang posted 110 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a rise of 243.75% over the previous month, followed by Amazon with 17 jobs and a 240% growth. Lululemon Athletica with 1 IT job and NIKE with 1 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Inter IKEA Holding recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 56.92%, up by 270% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 41.54% share, registered an increase of 217.65% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Senior job ads with 0.77% share, flat growth over July 2021, while Entry Level postings accounted for 0.77%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
