Apple has reportedly reopened more than half of its stores in China although the coronavirus (Covid-19) continues to spread.

The company had temporarily closed all of its 42 retail stores in China at the beginning of this month due to the outbreak.

The reopening started last week and 29 stores in mainland China have now resumed operations. The news was first reported on Abacus.

Most of the reopened stores are operating with reduced hours.

Citing Apple’s China website, SCMP reported that the reopening includes six of the seven stores in Shanghai while all five Beijing units are now operational.

On its website, the company has advised customers to wear masks and check their temperatures prior to entering stores.

Meanwhile, Apple has warned companies regarding disrupted iPhone supply as the firm’s contract manufacturers in China such as Foxconn and Wistron have ceased production and are slowly returning to normal conditions.

Last week, the company revealed the outbreak would hit its March quarter-revenue target.

Several other retailers, including Puma, Nike, Ralph Lauren and more, have warned of a negative impact on their operations due to the outbreak.
