Multinational technology company Apple will open a store at the Tower Theatre in downtown Los Angeles this week.

Named Apple Tower Theatre, the store is scheduled to open on 24 June and will be operated by almost 100 associates.

The store will sell a complete collection of Apple products and support services, offering monthly financing options, no-contact delivery and Apple Store pickup options.

The retailer undertook a restoration project at the historic Tower Theatre, which was designed by architect S Charles Lee in 1927 and had been disused since 1988.

Major preservationists, restoration artists and the City of Los Angeles were involved in the restoration project.

Apple Retail and People senior vice-president Deirdre O’Brien said: “At every corner, Los Angeles bursts with creativity across the arts, music, and entertainment, and we are thrilled to build on our relationship with this special city.

“Apple Tower Theatre honours the rich history and legacy of this entertainment capital.”

In a statement, the company said: “Apple Tower Theatre anchors the corner of Eighth Street and Broadway, where visitors will immediately recognise the fully restored clock tower, recreated Broadway marquee, clean terra cotta exterior and renovated historic blade sign.

“After walking through the Broadway doors, guests enter the monumental lobby inspired by Charles Garnier’s Paris Opera house, featuring a grand arched stairway with bronze handrails flanked by marble Corinthian columns.”

Apple has also launched a global initiative, called Today at Apple Creative Studios, at all Apple stores worldwide.

The scheme aims to provide hands-on experience and mentorship for young creatives.

Earlier this year, the company revealed plans to expand its market presence in India by opening stores in the country.

This included the launch of Apple Store, a network of branded physical outlets, to expand the company’s customer reach.
