Transport fuel supplier and convenience retailer Caltex Australia and Woolworths have opened their first co-branded store in North Ryde, New South Wales (NSW), Australia.

Caltex Woolworths Metro store has been designed to meet customers’ on-the-go convenience shopping requirements.

The new store will feature a range of fresh food and groceries, as well as products from Woolworths’ exclusive own brand.

Owned and operated by Caltex, the store will feature the company’s FuelPay app for quick payment, as well as self-checkouts in-store.

Caltex Convenience Retail executive general manager Jo Taylor said: “We’re excited about redefining the convenience experience for our customers. We know Australians lead busy lives and are looking for great quality fresh food for a meal on the go or to make preparing a meal at home a little bit easier.

“Our new store will set the new standard of service, product quality and range that customers will begin to expect when they shop in the petrol and convenience sector.”

Later this month, the partnership is planning to open its second Caltex Woolworths Metro Kingsford in NSW. The third location is scheduled to open in Melbourne in early next year.

Woolworths Wholesale general manager Ian McDonald said: “Caltex Woolworths Metro is an exciting next phase of our partnership with Australia’s leading fuel network.

“We’re delighted to help bring together some of the best elements of both businesses for the benefit of our mutual customers.”

Earlier this year, Woolworths partnered with Takeoff Technologies to deploy automated micro fulfilment capabilities at three sites.
