Supermarket chain Lidl US is planning to expand its store portfolio across the East Coast with the opening of 25 new stores by spring next year.
The retailer will open the new stores across Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia – with the first four opening on Long Island.

Lidl also plans to sell its products in more than 100 stores and create over 1,000 new jobs across the nine states.
Lidl US CEO Johannes Fieber said: “We are committed to long-term growth in the US and always strive to locate in the most convenient locations for our shoppers.
“These new stores are part of the next steps in our US expansion. Over the next year, we are excited to introduce more customers to Lidl’s award-winning quality, reliably low prices, and convenient shopping experience.”
Lidl also plans to close two stores in Rockingham and Kinston, North Carolina, this summer. The company will offer all employees working at these locations a chance to relocate and work at other stores within its network.
