Panasonic Corporation of North America, in collaboration with food safety and quality consulting services firm Hussmann, has launched an IoT solution, LastMile Hub, to address refrigerated grocery last-mile delivery challenges.
The company has launched pilot programmes for the new technology in North America and globally to fulfil customer delivery needs, as well as reduce operational costs for food retailers.
Panasonic food distribution managing officer Dohno said: “We’re very proud of our new IoT solution to help food retailers with their last mile challenges.

By GlobalDataLastMile Hub is designed to offer on-demand convenience and flexibility lockers, enabling customers to pick their food and other purchases through secure refrigerated, freezer and room temperature.
Developed using Panasonic’s IoT technology, the modular cabinet refrigeration system of the solution features customisable storage unit modules with separate doors in stacked compartments of various sizes, individual temperature settings for cabinets, indicator lights and automatics module doors.
Other features of LastMile Hub include customisable UI design, web-based secure network integration, delivery tracking and operation locker management facility, temperature monitoring and alarming, built-in self-diagnostics tools among others.
