India-based clothing retailer Madura Fashion & Lifestyle (MFL), a subsidiary of Aditya Birla group, has outlined plans to expand its new brand Planet Fashion Grande by opening 50 new stores across the country over the next three years.

Planet Fashion Grande is a one-stop-shop multi-brand store format, which focuses mainly on marriage apparels, among others.

Initially, MFL intends to set up majority of the stores in tier II and III towns in India.

MFL Planet Fashion, International Brands & Trade Sales COO Shoaib Farooqi told Pitch that with the advent of TV in smaller towns, people are getting to know what the latest trends in fashion are and they want to spend money.

"Till now, they used to come to the larger cities for shopping, but now shops are opening in smaller towns," Farooqi added.

"The response and the retail are impressive from the smaller towns, which is what we want."

Occupying 9,000ft² of retail space, Planet Fashion Grande stores will cater domestic as well as international brands primarily in menswear, women’s wear, sports and ceremonies segments.

Recently, MFL has opened a new Planet Fashion Grande store in Jayanagar, Bangalore.
