UK retailer Arcadia to expand in US, online markets

UK-based women fashion retailer Arcadia Group will look to expand its presence in the US market as well as the online space.

UK-based women fashion retailer Arcadia Group will look to expand its presence in the US market as well as the online space.

The retailer its merchandise under the brands called Topman, Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge, Wallis and Evans in UK and 39 other countries.

Talking of the company’s expansion plans Arcadia owner Philip Green said, "It is our intention to continue to drive expansion strongly in both our USA owned stores and in our international on-line business in the year ahead."

Arcadia will unveilits flahship fourth US Topshop/Topman store in the US in Los Angeles in 2013 while also looking to expand its online presence, in a partnership department store group Nordstrom.

Meanwhile, retailer has posted a £33m increase in the operating cash of £330.4m as compared to £297.4m for the financial year 2011 while total sales remained flat at £2,679m.

Conditions in both UK and around the world remain challenging, admitted Sir Green.

Total like-for-like sales for the first 10 weeks of the year increased 0.7% while e-commerce sales were up 22%.
