Finland-based textiles and Fashion Company Marimekko has entered into an agreement with Canadian modern furniture retailer EQ3, to unveil ten new Marimekko shop-in-shops by the end of 2014.

The first outlet, as per the agreement is slated to open in Toronto, Canada, early in September 2012 with each of the proposed outlets occupying 320ft² of retail space, reported fibre2fashion.com.

Marimekko is also looking to expand in US market by opening three new outlets in 2012 across major cities featuring household products from furnishing fabrics to tableware.

The first US store is slated to open at 140 Newbury Street in Boston on 7 August 2012, and employs a similar concept to the flagship store opened in New York City in 2011 including product lines.

Marimekko’s second US store will be unveiled in the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto and is expected to open in September-October 2012 with the third outlet to be located in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and unveiled by 2012 end.

Marimekko’s president and CEO Mika Ihamuotila told the website that the three yet to be opened stores will increase the brand presence in US.

"I am very delighted with the partnership with EQ3, a prestigious modern furniture brand. We are working determinedly to expand our distribution network in Canada as elsewhere, and this is a good step forward in an attractive market," Ihamuotila notes.

The furniture retailer, currently, operates 11 stores in Canada and the US, with a 12th location opening summer 2012 in Toronto’s Liberty Village.
