Gap will partner with Stores Specialists, an operator of Gap brand and Banana Republic stores, to set up two Old Navy stores in the beginning of 2014 while remaining stores are scheduled to open by the end of the same fiscal year.

This latest development follows the company’s recent announcement of the franchise model for all Old Navy stores internationally, which is seen as a key step in Gap’s international expansion plans as it eyes a a major share in the global retail apparel market.

Old Navy International senior vice president Sonia Syngal said with a steadily growing retail market, the Philippines represents a great opportunity for Old Navy and an important step in the brand’s international expansion.

"Consumers have a great interest in the iconic American brand Old Navy, and we look forward to making current American fashion essentials accessible for every family," Syngal added.

All the franchisee-run Old Navy stores in Philippines will have the same energetic environment as the US stores, and will offer men’s, women’s, kid’s and baby apparel and accessories.

In addition, Old Navy has also firmed up its plans to open stores in China in the first half of 2014.
