Indian home interiors retail chain Evok, which is part of the Hindware Home Retail, plans to diversify its retail business across the country.

As part of the diversifying initiative, Evok will launch an online portal and enhance its store size.

The mega stores currently occupy 10,000ft² each, providing complete home interior solutions while the specialty formats occupy 1,000ft² each and offers a limited range of products such as kitchen and bath solutions.

Evok is also looking to expand its retail presence in India by 2014-15 with an investment of Rs2.5bn ($45.37m).

As part of the expansion, the company will set up around eight to ten mega home interior stores by the end of 2013.

The retailer will focus on metros, Teir I and Teir II cities across the country and will open stores in Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad and Surat.

Hindware Home Retail CEO DK Jairath was quoted by The Hindu Business Line as saying, "Additionally, we will also introduce shop-in-shop formats with big departmental chains such as Hypercity."

Hindware Home Retail, a subsidiary of sanitary ware and bathroom fittings maker HSIL, earlier earmarked about Rs2.5bn ($45.37m) for setting up 50 large formats by FY14.

The retailer unveiled its 17th store in India and aims to increase its annual turnover of Rs4bn ($72.59m) by 2014-15.

Jairath added that the company is also looking at the franchise route for specialty stores.

Evok retails nearly 16,000 products in categories such as: furniture, furnishings, bath products, modular kitchens, flooring, lighting & lifestyle home accessories.
