Jubilant FoodWorks (JFL), the franchise owner of Domino’s International in India, plans to open an additional 100 outlets in the country by March 2013.
The company had initially planned on an additional 90 Domino’s Pizza outlets, however, the number has now been increased to 100 outlets on back of favorable numbers for the first quarter that ended 30 June 2012, reports Franchise India.
Jubilant FoodWorks reported a net profit of INR324m ($5.7m), up by 40% for the quarter, when compared to INR231.6m ($4.1m) reported for the corresponding period a year ago.
The franchisee operated 465 Domino’s Pizza outlets in India as of 31 March 2012, spanning 105 cities of 26 states and union territories.
The company is also the master franchisee for Domino’s in Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka and will look to build five to six stores in Sri Lanka, taking the cumulative count to 30 over the next five years.
Domino’s Pizza chain was founded in the US back in 1960 and currently has a network of over 9,000 pizza stores in more than 60 countries around the world.
The menu features vegetarian and meat pizzas, chicken wings and boneless chicken, sandwiches, pasta, stuffed cheesy breads and a variety of dessert items.
Jubilant is also the franchisee of Dunkin’ Donuts in India and plans to expand to a 100 outlets in the country over the next five years.
