UAE-based fast food chain, Just Falafel, plans to open 200 new retail outlets across the UK over the next five years.

The store openings are part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its international presence, with the first flagship outlet slated to open at Monmouth St. Covent Garden, London in November 2012.

The chain is currently holding discussions with potential franchisees to develop multiple outlets across the city of London and the rest of the UK.

Just Falafel’s CEO Fadi Malas remarked that the increasing popularity of falafel as a nutritious, vegetarian alternative will aide making Just Falafel a success in the British capital.

"Factors such as visibility of Emirates and Etihad Airlines in the UK and the allure of Dubai as a holiday destination has increased the affinity between these two markets, and as a homegrown success story from the UAE, Just Falafel aims to be the quick service restaurant of choice across the UK," added Malas.

In August 2012, it announced its plans to expand into Lebanon and Qatar with the opening of ten stores over the next one year.

Just Falafel opened its first outlet in Abu Dhabi in 2007 and currently has presence in five markets across the Middle East.

The menu includes sandwiches, breakfast, meals, dessert, drinks, fun meals, sides, dips and side salads
