Swiss retail sales have declined by 2.7% in February this year, when compared with February 2014, according to the figures released by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

The figures highlight that retail sales on a month-on-month basis fell by 1.2% in February 2015 compared with January the same year.

On year-on-year basis, the retail sales excluding fuel fell by 2.4% in February 2015, compared with February 2014.

The retail sales of food, drinks and tobacco posted a decline of 1.0%, while non-food sector registered negative growth of 3.7% on year-on-year basis.

The retail sales excluding fuel fell by 0.9% in February when compared to previous month.

On month-on-month basis, the retail sales of food, drinks and tobacco registered a decline of 1.7% and non-food sector showed negative growth of 0.9%.

The FSO is a Federal authority of the Swiss Confederation and it is the Statistics Office of Switzerland, situated in Neuchâtel and attached to the Federal Department of Home Affairs.
