US retail giant Walmart has joined forces with Wing to scale up drone delivery services, broadening the reach to 100 additional locations within select markets.

By 2026, numerous Walmart Supercenters in key metropolitan areas such as Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando and Tampa will offer the service.

The existing collaboration in Dallas-Fort Worth will see an increase in participating stores, building on the current network of 18 Supercenters.

Walmart is the first retailer to provide drone delivery across five US states: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas.

Since its initial drone delivery launch in 2021, Walmart has completed more than 150,000 deliveries within minutes. The move makes shopping even more convenient, bringing thousands of products from groceries to health and wellness products to household essentials, to customers’ doors in 30 minutes or under

The service is particularly popular for urgent care items and key ingredients that customers may have forgotten during weekly grocery trips. Among the most frequently delivered products are fresh fruit, eggs, ice cream and pet food.

Wing’s drones operate beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS), flying up to a six-mile range from the store. They offer a safe, and sustainable delivery service while adhering to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.

Wing CEO Adam Woodworth stated: “People all around the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex have made drone delivery part of their normal shopping habits over the past year. Now we’re excited to share this ultra-fast delivery experience with millions more people across many more US cities.”

In early 2025, Zipline launched its first-ever P2 drone site at Walmart stores in Mesquite and Waxahachie, Texas.

Drone delivery is part of Walmart’s broader strategy to accelerate convenience by offering faster, flexible, more efficient delivery options. With Express Delivery, Late-Night Delivery, and InHome Delivery, Walmart is setting a new standard for speed and flexibility in retail.

Walmart US transformation and innovation senior vice-president Greg Cathey stated: “As we look ahead, drone delivery will remain a key part of our commitment to redefining retail. We’re pushing the boundaries of convenience to better serve our customers, making shopping faster and easier than ever before.

“This expansion of our drone delivery service marks a significant milestone in that journey. As the first retailer to scale drone delivery, Walmart is once again demonstrating its commitment to leveraging technology to enhance our delivery offerings with a focus on speed.”

In May 2025, Walmart Canada collaborated with Lufa Farms to introduce hyperlocal produce to its customers in Montreal.
