UK supermarket Morrisons has allocated over £1.6bn ($2.15bn) to British agriculture in 2026, covering long-term supply arrangements with more than 2,500 farmers.
The funding continues the retailer’s ongoing partnerships with producers of dairy, eggs, fish, fruit, meat and vegetables.

Trading arrangements operate under the Groceries Supply Code of Practice (GSCOP), with Morrisons generally using multi-year agreements.
A new shared farming arrangement for potato growers has also been introduced, covering all crop production costs to offset seasonal expenses and weather-related risks.
Morrisons said it is working with industry organisations and government on challenges affecting the sustainability of farming, including the outlook for family-run farms and domestic food output.
Other initiatives highlighted by Morrisons include the Morrisons Agriculture Directors Forum, which was launched in December 2025. The scheme was designed to increase collaboration with major agricultural suppliers around innovation, sustainability, animal welfare and resilience.

By GlobalDataIt also pointed to the Morrisons Next Generation Farming Programme, set up in 2019 and opened to farmers across the wider industry from late 2025, which has trained more than 100 farmers focused on manufacturing and retail insight.
Morrisons CEO Rami Baitiéh added: “Now, more than ever, at a time when farming is under pressure, we stand shoulder to shoulder with British farmers, providing them with long-term financial stability and practical support.
“That is why we are committing to invest £1.6bn with British farms this year, backing the people who produce our food and giving them the confidence and stability they need to continue producing high-quality British products for our customers.”
The retailer also works with fast food restaurant chain McDonald’s and the National Farmers’ Union through the School of Sustainable Food & Farming at Harper Adams University.
In addition, it runs a Sustainable Farm Network spanning 38 farm groups representing over 150,000 hectares.
Its “For Farmers” product range has generated more than £29m for farmers since 2015.
Morrisons has further supported the Royal Countryside Fund’s Farm Resilience Programme and backed British sheep farmers via lamb processing and export through Myton Food Group, with sales reaching £19.5m in 2025.
