UK supermarket chain Asda is reshuffling its leadership team ahead of the end-of-month departure of Liz Evans, chief commercial officer for non-food and managing director of its George business.
Joining the company in January 2022, Evans first led the George business before her responsibilities were expanded last year to include Asda’s retail teams.

Asda executive chairman Allan Leighton said: “Liz has been a fabulous steward during her time with us. Firstly, leading the George business through a period of continued growth and then taking on the leadership of our retail teams.
“Leading both, she has made a lasting impact — with our colleagues and the business more widely — and set in place the foundation for success moving forwards. I am immensely grateful for her leadership and wish her all the very best for the future.”
Following her departure, the supermarket has reassigned duties across its executive ranks.
David Lepley will expand his role as chief operating officer, taking responsibility for retail operations in addition to his current supply chain brief.
Rachel Eyre will become chief customer and digital officer, bringing together Asda’s online and digital activities with the areas she already oversees, including George.com, Asda Money and Asda Mobile.
Asda also said it is recruiting a permanent chief executive for George, who will be tasked with running the brand across the whole business.
The George clothing division will report to chief people officer James Goodman until an appointment has been made.
Responsibility for general merchandise will sit with Darren Blackhurst alongside his existing duties.
Asda said the leadership changes form part of a wider executive reorganisation following Evans’ departure.
The company added that George will continue pursuing its plans to expand its position in the UK fashion market while a permanent head is appointed.
