Walmart reported second-quarter results for the period ended 31 July 2026, with net sales rising 5.9% to $186.10bn.

The US retail giant has also raised its fiscal 2027 (FY27) guidance.

During the period under review, its operating income increased 28.8% to $9.38bn, or 17.4% on an adjusted constant-currency basis.

Consolidated net income attributable to Walmart fell 9.4% to $6.36bn.

Global e-commerce sales were up 23%, driven by store-fulfilled pickup and delivery and marketplace activity.

Walmart US’ net sales climbed 3.5% to $125.18bn while operating income rose 20.6% to $8.12bn. E-commerce sales in the segment increased 24%.

Walmart International posted net sales of $35.19bn, up 12.8%, or 7.9% on a constant-currency basis.

Operating income increased 16.6% to $1.43bn, or 5.7% on a constant-currency basis.

E-commerce sales in the segment rose 19%, and the advertising business grew 20%, led by Flipkart Ads.

Currency rate fluctuations added $1.5bn to sales and $0.1bn to operating income.

At Sam’s Club US, net sales increased 8.8% to $25.71bn.

E-commerce sales grew 26%, membership fee revenue increased 6%, and operating income advanced 44.3% to $678m.

For the six months ended 31 July 2026, net sales rose 6.5% to $361.78bn and operating income increased 17.0% to $16.87bn.

Consolidated net income attributable to Walmart increased 1.6% to $11.69bn.

For the third quarter of FY27, Walmart said it expects net sales growth of 3% to 3.75% and adjusted operating income growth of 2% to 4%, both in constant currency.

The company noted a headwind of more than 100 basis points to third-quarter sales growth due to a timing shift of Indian e-commerce unit Flipkart’s Big Billion Days between the third and fourth quarters.

For FY27, Walmart expects net sales growth of 4% to 5%, compared with a previous forecast of 3.5% to 4.5%, and adjusted operating income growth of 7% to 8.5%, compared with 6% to 8%, both in constant currency.

Walmart president and CEO John Furner said: “Our team delivered another good quarter, and we continue to make steady progress on the long-term value drivers of our business. Our multi-year growth in e-commerce is evidence that customers are choosing Walmart because we deliver price, speed, and convenience across a broad assortment. At Walmart, they can have it all.”
