Notably, ecommerce was one of the most frequently referenced themes in Q2 2023, ranking highest in terms of mentions, ahead of Covid-19 and electric vehicles, according to GlobalData.
Of the top leading companies in the retail industry, JD had the greatest increase in references for ecommerce in Q2 2023, compared with the previous quarter. GlobalData identified 165 ecommerce-related sentences in the company's filings - 3% of all sentences - and a decrease of 10% in Q2 2023 compared with Q2 2022. Walmart’s mentions of ecommerce rose by 107% to 56 and Li Ning’s by 47% to 22 and Etsy’s by 92% to 17 and Alibaba Group’s by 59% to 16.
