The global retail industry experienced a 17% drop in new job postings related to cloud in Q3 2022 compared with the previous quarter, according to GlobalData’s whitepaper on Cloud in Retail – Hiring Activity in Q3 2022. This compares to a flat growth versus Q3 2021.
Notably, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers jobs accounted for a 35% share of the global retail industry’s cloud -related total new job postings in Q3 2022, down 24% over the prior quarter.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers, with a share of 35%, emerged as the top cloud -related job roles within the retail industry in Q3 2022, with new job postings drop by 24% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Information Systems Managers came in second with a share of 7% in Q3 2022, with new job postings drop by 20% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent cloud roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 5% share in Q3 2022, General and Operations Managers with a 2% share of new job postings.
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2022 were Amazon.com, Walmart, Vorwerk and CVS Health. Together they accounted for a combined share of 22% of all cloud -related active jobs in the retail industry.
Amazon.com posted 3,817 jobs in Q3 2022 and registered a drop of 35% over the previous quarter, followed by Walmart with 624 jobs and a 35% drop. Vorwerk with 415 jobs and CVS Health with 388 jobs, recorded a % growth and a 6% decrease, respectively, while Ocado Group recorded a 10% increase with 359 job postings during Q3 2022.
The largest share of cloud -related new job postings in the retail industry in Q3 2022 was in the US with 57% followed by India (8%) and the UK (7%). The share represented by the US was nine percentage points lower than the 65% share it accounted for in Q2 2022.
