The value marked an increase of 392.3% over the previous quarter and a drop of 29.4% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $23.34bn.
The US held a 40.9% share of the global consumer industry M&A deal value that totalled $40.25bn in Q3 2020.
In terms of deal activity, the US recorded 221 deals during Q3 2020, marking a rise of 24.2% over the previous quarter and a drop of 14.3% over the last four-quarter average.

The top five consumer industry M&A deals accounted for 76.1% of the overall value during Q3 2020.
The combined value of the top five consumer M&A deals stood at $12.53bn, against the overall value of $16.46bn recorded for the month.
The top five consumer industry deals of Q3 2020 tracked by GlobalData were:
1) Groupe Lactalis’ $3.2bn asset transaction with The Kraft Heinz
2) The $3bn acquisition of Les Schwab Tire Centers by Meritage Group
3) Highgate Hotels’ $2.8bn asset transaction with Colony Capital
4) The $1.78bn merger of DMY Technology Group and Rush Street Interactive by
5) Brookfield Property Group and Simon Property Group’s asset transaction with JC PenneyInc for $1.75bn.
