Food retailer Ahold Delhaize USA (ADUSA) has announced plans to build a new distribution centre in Burlington, North Carolina.
The new centre is part of its Growing Together strategy to expand and strengthen its long‑term infrastructure network.

The $860m project will be undertaken by ADUSA’s distribution and transportation subsidiaries, ADUSA Distribution and ADUSA Transportation.
The new distribution centre will cover more than one million square feet and will manage fresh and frozen grocery products for the company’s East Coast omnichannel grocery brands, including Food Lion.
Operations at the Burlington centre are expected to begin in 2029.
The site will employ more than 500 people and incorporate advanced supply chain automation technologies aimed at improving operational efficiency.

Ahold Delhaize USA operates five grocery brands, forming one of the largest retail groups on the US East Coast.
Food Lion has reported more than 50 consecutive quarters of same-store sales growth.
The company’s supply chain network includes more than 8,000 assets and covers 125 million miles each year.
Alongside the forthcoming Burlington site, ADUSA Distribution and ADUSA Transportation already manage three distribution centres in North Carolina, located in Salisbury, Butner and Dunn.
