Supermarket chain Aldi UK has revealed plans to inaugurate ten new outlets between June and August 2025, and revitalise an additional 30 locations.

The expansion will see the supermarket’s presence expand beyond its current 1,050 stores.

New establishments will open in areas such as Oldbury in the West Midlands, Fulham Broadway in London, Brighouse in West Yorkshire, Caterham in Surrey and Deeside in Wales.

The renovation efforts include Herne Bay in Kent and Ancoats in Manchester, where existing stores will experience upgrades.

These developments are part of Aldi’s strategic aim to reach a network of 1,500 stores across the UK, with a £650m investment earmarked for 2025’s expansion programme.

Asda expects each new store to create 40 local jobs.

Aldi UK National Real Estate managing director Jonathan Neale stated: “At Aldi, our goal is to ensure everyone has access to high-quality food at unbeatable prices, and we’re committed to achieving that with our ambitious store opening plans.

“We’re targeting 40 new store openings in 2025, while many of our current stores will be getting a refresh to enhance the customer experience, meaning we can consistently offer the best value for money to even more shoppers across the UK.”

In early 2025, Aldi increased pay for store assistants, establishing minimum hourly rates of £12.75 and £14.05 within the London orbital M25 motorway region.

A further rise in pay is scheduled for September 2025, setting the minimum wages at £12.85 per hour nationally and £14.16 per hour within the M25.

The retailer also provides all staff members with paid breaks, which translates to an added annual value of around £1,370 for an average store colleague.

Earlier this month, research conducted by consumer advocacy group Which? revealed that Aldi continues to hold the position as the most affordable supermarket for purchasing daily grocery necessities.
