Ahold Delhaize USA subsidiary Food Lion is set to make its To Go grocery pick up service accessible at more stores in the US.
From today (7 June), the service will expand to a further 32 stores in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
The expansion aims to offer customers a convenient and easy grocery shopping experience during the country’s summer season.
It is also part of the company’s commitment to expanding the service across local towns and cities.
Customers can use the Food Lion To Go website or app to check the availability of products before placing orders.
Orders will be taken by trained store associates who will prepare them at the stores.
The associates will deliver the orders directly to customers’ cars after they arrive at designated parking areas at the stores.
Customers can then pick up their orders on the same day without having to enter the store.
Food Lion digital and e-commerce director Evan Harding said: “Continuing to expand this service to more stores is important to us and our customers.
“We want to give our neighbours the option to shop through the channel they prefer, in-store or online, while still ensuring they have access to fresh groceries at affordable prices.”
Lion customers can link their Food Lion Most Valuable Player (MVP) savings loyalty card to their account and redeem their ‘Shop and Earn’ MVP rewards programme savings using digital coupons.
Based in Salisbury, North Carolina, Food Lion has more than 1,100 stores in ten south-eastern and mid-Atlantic states. It currently employs more than 82,000 people.
Last month, Ahold Delhaize reported that its net sales increased by 5.8% at constant exchange rates to €18.3bn in the first quarter of the year.
