US supermarket chain Giant Eagle has integrated Manhattan Associates’ Manhattan Active Warehouse Management (WM) system at its more than one million ft² Bedford Heights, Ohio facility to enhance its logistics network through automated technology.

This is the retailer’s fifth facility, and the adoption of Manhattan Active WM forms part of its cloud migration strategy.

The remaining two distribution centres (DCs) are expected to be migrated to the cloud by September 2025.

The company has reported swift returns to full production levels within days of each system update. In the first week after implementing the new system, the warehouse processed hundreds of thousands of inbound and outbound cases, exceeding performance expectations.

Giant Eagle technology systems vice-president Dan Kapalko stated: “The seamless implementation is a testament to the outstanding partnership we have with Manhattan.

“Manhattan’s expertise and commitment, combined with the collaboration across our teams, have made this a true success. This marks a significant milestone for us, and we’re excited about the continued improvements we’ll see in our operations.”
