Lori’s Gifts, hospital gift shops operator in the US, has unveiled a new store concept that offers a completely autonomous shopping experience to meet the needs of hospital settings.

The new concept, GO Market by Lori’s, has been developed in collaboration with AiFi, a company specialising in AI-powered autonomous shopping solutions.

It provides hospital staff, patients, and visitors with the convenience of shopping without the delays associated with traditional checkout processes.

The first GO Market by Lori’s has already commenced operations at Medical City Decatur located in Decatur, Texas.

Later this month, Lori’s Gifts plans to open a second store at Mount Carmel Hospital in Dublin, Ohio.

Lori’s Gifts is pursuing the expansion of this concept as part of its broader strategy to introduce advanced retail solutions within the healthcare industry.

Lori’s Gifts South regional vice-president Albert Ramos said: “Our GO Market model introduces the future of hospital-based retail – fully automated, badge and card secured, and designed for around-the-clock accessibility.

“This initiative represents a significant strategic investment that reflects our belief in high-touch service, enhanced access, and true convenience for healthcare employees and guests. It brings together the best of Lori’s – hospitality, innovation, and care – through a scalable, 24-hour retail solution focused on the needs of patients and hospital staff.”

AiFi’s technology automatically identifies and tracks items as customers select them and processes payment securely upon their departure.

By incorporating this system, Lori’s Gifts aims to minimise waiting times and enhance the overall shopping experience.

With AiFi’s platform seamlessly synced with Lori’s Gifts’ existing systems, real-time sales data can be incorporated into their ERP for effective inventory management and accounting practices.

Additionally, in-store iPads are available for customers to provide their email addresses and receive digital receipts, further contributing to a contemporary retail experience.

Lori’s Gifts has plans to introduce more GO Market locations in various hospitals over the next few months as part of its continued partnership with AiFi.

AiFi CEO Steve Carlin said: “The partnership with Lori’s Gifts shares our commitment to creating seamless, accessible retail experiences, and we’re making it easier for hospital visitors and staff to find what they need – anytime, with zero friction.

“This collaboration represents a meaningful step in expanding the impact of cashierless technology where it can truly make a difference.”
