Delhaize America has selected Relex Solutions’ supply chain planning to improve its forecasting and inventory management at its distribution centres.

The centres serve Delhaize’s supermarket brands Food Lion with more than 1,000 stores in the southeastern US, and Hannaford with 181 stores across New England and New York.

Delhaize America supply chain senior vice-president Chris Lewis said: “As an organisation, we are continuously looking for ways to continue to innovate, enhance and optimise the way we procure and forecast product to our retail locations, ensuring our customers have the freshest merchandise available.

“The agreement provides us the opportunity to demonstrate to North American retailers what we have been able to do for their European counterparts."

“We expect Relex’s forecasting and replenishment solution will drive product improvements at retail, enhance our customers’ shopping experience and reduce inventory levels at our distribution centres to further enhance product freshness at our stores.”

Relex’s supply chain planning will help improve Delhaize product freshness at all its Food Lion stores.

Relex Solutions North America president Michael Falck said: “The agreement provides us the opportunity to demonstrate to North American retailers what we have been able to do for their European counterparts.
