SPAR Austria has expanded its regional network with the opening of a new EUROSPAR supermarket in Schwadorf, Lower Austria.

The outlet offers a sales area of 1,240m² and carries around 18,000 product lines. Its layout features wide aisles, and the site is supported by 73 extra-wide parking spaces.

According to the company’s statement, more than 30 people are employed at the location.

The supermarket is overseen by a female-led management team, with Adela Kurbegovic serving as store manager and Vanessa Nirschi as deputy store manager.

In addition to the standard EUROSPAR delicatessen offering, the store also prepares ready-to-eat meals on site.

Heating is provided through a system combining heat recovery and an air-source heat pump, using waste heat generated by cooling equipment.

The site is linked to a local cycle path to support bicycle access and is equipped with electric vehicle charging points.

SPAR Austria’s Vienna, Lower Austria, and Northern Burgenland managing director Alois Huber said: “We invest in modern local supply with a clear focus on customers, sustainable structures, and innovative solutions. In November 2025, SPAR Austria agreed to acquire 23 Unimarkt outlets.  

The purchase agreement covered 11 stores in Styria, five in Upper Austria, four in Lower Austria, two in Salzburg and one in Burgenland. 

Following regulatory clearance, all impacted Unimarkt branches will transfer to SPAR Austria, with all staff members at those locations being fully retained.

Last month, SPAR Australia launched a new store in Bloomfield, a suburb of Orange in New South Wales’ Central West region.

The store, named SPAR Supermarket Bloomfield, aims to offer “exceptional convenience, quality products, and competitive pricing”.
