Supermarket chain Tesco Ireland plans to create 400 jobs as part of a €40m ($47m) investment to open ten new stores nationwide over the 12 months to July 2026.

The new roles will increase Tesco Ireland’s permanent workforce to more than 13,500.

Tesco Ireland CEO Geoff Byrne stated: “This €40m investment underscores our commitment to maintaining our position as a leading employer and retailer in Ireland. Our colleagues are at the heart of our business, and we look forward to welcoming new team members this year and recognising them with market-leading reward and benefits.”

The new Tesco stores will include both larger supermarkets and smaller Express outlets and will bring the retailer’s total number of stores in Ireland to 193.

The new Fermoy store in County Cork, scheduled to open by the end of July 2025, will account for 100 of these new jobs.

In addition to the Cork location, Tesco plans to open new stores in Dublin, Galway, Louth and Meath.
