Ahmed, whose tenure commenced on 20 October 2025, transitions to UDF from the Gorilla Glue Company, where he spent five years as chief operating officer.

His career portfolio also includes senior positions at Tyson Foods/Advanced Pierre Foods, Kik Custom Products and Procter & Gamble.

Commenting on the appointment, Linder stated: “Michael has a strong background in food manufacturing, supply chain, distribution/warehousing and logistics, which were key criteria when we began our search.”

“UDF has been a trusted name for more than 85 years, built on family, quality and community. It’s an honour to join a company with such a rich heritage and strong foundation. Together we will build on that legacy – growing the brand, expanding our reach and continuing to deliver the homemade quality and customer experience that make UDF special,” said Ahmed.

Linder, whose father was among the founders of UDF, has been at the helm of the company for 27 years. His retirement was announced earlier in 2025, prompting the search for a successor.

As part of the transition, he will remain actively involved, leading Ahmed’s onboarding process.

Following this, he will take on the role of chairman of the UDF Board of Directors.

“Starting in late 2024, we started to activate our succession plans related to leadership of the company,” Lindner stated. “This will be a significant shift for us as we transition from being a family-led organisation to one operated by non-owners with continued involvement and oversight from the Lindner family via our board of directors.”

The Norwood-headquartered chain currently operates 173 stores in the US state of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
