Walmart has introduced a range of AI-powered shopping features on its mobile app in preparation for the 2025 holiday season.

The company’s latest updates include AI-generated shopping lists, store-specific savings recommendations and improved navigation features showing the exact in-store location of products – all intended to make shopping more efficient as the festive period begins.
Among the additions is an in-store savings tool, which allows customers to identify discounted products available in their local Walmart outlets.
The feature covers Black Friday offers, rollbacks and clearance sales, with options to filter by category and compare prices within the app.
Enhanced search and navigation options now enable users to locate items in real time and view current stock levels.

Walmart’s generative AI assistant, Sparky, can assist customers in planning events by producing curated shopping lists based on the occasion.
New AI-generated audio summaries condense product details and reviews into brief sound clips, currently available for more than 1,000 beauty products.
The company has also incorporated augmented reality (AR) capabilities through Dynamic Showroom and Shop the Background.
These tools allow shoppers to explore 3D environments, view themed interior setups and add visible products directly to their baskets.
Walmart US shopping experiences senior vice-president Tracy Poulliot stated: “The most wonderful time of the year should be joyful, and with the power of AI and technology, we’re making that possible,”
“Whether customers are holiday shopping in our stores or from the comfort of home, we’re giving them the tools to check off their lists quicker and easier than ever before.
“And they’re loving it — when they use the app while they shop in stores, they spend 25% more on average than on trips when they don’t use the app.”
In October 2025, Walmart collaborated with OpenAI to introduce AI-powered shopping features, allowing customers and Sam’s Club members to make purchases directly through ChatGPT using its Instant Checkout option.
