Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said workers and their families are struggling with living costs while shareholder payouts and senior pay continue to rise.
The US retailer said net income for the quarter ended 29 November 2025 fell to $293.3m from $400.6m in the same period of fiscal 2024.
The transaction remains subject to standard closing requirements, including regulatory antitrust approval, and is expected to close in the first half of 2026.
