Aldi added five new stores to its UK estate in the 24 hours from 11 to 12 December 2025, increasing its retail presence ahead of the Christmas trading period.
The discount grocer, which operates more than 1,070 stores across the country, opened new outlets in Uxbridge and on the Old Kent Road in London, alongside locations in Northallerton, Pershore and Yate in Bristol.
The latest openings form part of Aldi’s longer-term expansion programme, under which the retailer aims to reach 1,500 stores nationwide.
Aldi is allocating £650m ($866.27m) to store openings and refurbishments in 2025 and has committed a further £1.6bn over the subsequent two years.
This investment is intended to support the opening of 40 new stores annually.
The five sites are expected to generate around 200 jobs in total.
All positions there will be offered at pay rates suitable for their respective markets.
It will provide paid breaks for all store colleagues, worth close to £1,475 a year for an average employee.
The new stores are located on Harefield Road in Uxbridge, the Old Kent Road in London, North Moor Road in Northallerton, King George's Way in Pershore and Link Road in Yate, Bristol.
Aldi UK real estate managing director Jon Neale stated: “Opening any new store is exciting, but opening five in 24 hours, just before Christmas, will make a huge difference for customers in each of these areas.
