Portuguese supermarket chain Pingo Doce has entered a partnership with SymphonyAI to implement the CINDE Connected Retail platform.

The move will integrate real-time AI insights into merchandising processes.

The move will replace static reports and dashboards with prescriptive analytics, offer Pingo Doce and its suppliers access to intelligence tools described as "dynamic".

Pingo Doce digital and innovation executive director Francisco Soure stated: “We’re not just improving how we operate — we’re transforming how we collaborate.

“SymphonyAI gives our teams and our suppliers a shared view of what’s happening, and the AI-driven actions to make better decisions together — faster.”

Users will be able to test “what-if” scenarios, refine promotions and assortments, and assess projected revenue outcomes.

The CINDE platform consolidates data from point-of-sale systems, assortments and shelves into a single interface, providing store and product-level recommendations to guide decision-making.

The system will allow executives to use natural language queries for instant insights, assist category teams through automated recommendations and provide consumer packaged goods (CPG) partners with real-time visibility into store-level performance.

SymphonyAI Retail-CPG president Manish Choudhary stated: “Pingo Doce isn’t just adopting AI — they’re wielding it as competitive leverage.

“They’re showing what bold retail innovation looks like: real-time insights, shared intelligence and faster action across every link in the value chain.”

Pingo Doce operates under the Jerónimo Martins Group, which manages more than 5,700 stores across Portugal, Poland, Colombia and Slovakia.

SymphonyAI develops AI-driven software applications for industries including retail, finance and manufacturing, and serves more than 2,000 enterprise clients globally.

In early 2025, Carrefour Italy deployed SymphonyAI’s computer vision technology to optimise its shopping experience.
