Supermarket chain SPAR Oman has opened its latest flagship outlet in Al Khoud, Muscat, with a new-generation store design created in collaboration with SPAR International.
Situated within the Al Rahma Mall, the 900m² SPAR Al Rahma supermarket employs 23 staff.
The outlet carries more than 10,000 product lines, combining international brands with locally sourced goods.
It also introduces AI-powered self-checkout systems, aiming to facilitate faster transactions.
The supermarket highlights fresh produce, including fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and nuts.
A dedicated bakery, managed by four in-house chefs, produces Arabic sweets, pastries, breads and savoury items onsite.
SPAR Oman developed the store layout and interior design by drawing on best practices observed during visits to SPAR outlets in other countries.
The premises are leased from Al Rahma, a national charitable organisation that provides housing, training and employment opportunities to women and orphans.
The latest move continues SPAR’s expansion worldwide.
In October 2025, ESPAR Italia (SPAR Italy), together with the six companies forming its consortium, extended its retail network across the country with ten new outlets and the reopening of two modernised stores in different formats.
The DESPAR Express convenience format registered multiple additions, including new stores in Tor Bella Monaca, Rome and Acquaformosa in Calabria, both of which offer product selections suited to local consumer needs.
