British grocery retailer Waitrose will open a new 360,000ft²  distribution centre at Mountpark’s Bristol 360, a modern logistics facility with many energy efficient and sustainable features, including 1,200 solar panels, to improve service for its customers in the southwest of England.

The centre, the retailer's first in the region, is scheduled to open by the end of 2026. It will support 50 existing stores, with the capacity to accommodate future expansions.

The retailer plans to expand its UK presence with new convenience and full-line stores.

The multi-million-pound investment in the Bristol 360 distribution centre is part of this strategic growth initiative.

In June 2025, Waitrose disclosed plans to open two new stores in Bristol, one at Brabazon in the north of the city in 2027, and a convenience store in The Arches in the second half of 2025.

Waitrose supply chain director Alison Maffin stated: “This multi-million-pound investment is an important step in modernising our supply chain and setting us up to build the capacity needed for our growth plans.

“It will enable us to better serve our customers in the region, more efficiently supply our existing shops and reduce our operating costs and carbon emissions. The modern and sustainable features of Mountpark’s Bristol 360 make it an excellent fit for our business."

Waitrose estimates that the new site will contribute to a reduction of 2,225t of CO₂  emissions annually within its supply chain, aligning with its goals to achieve net zero carbon by 2035 and to eliminate fossil fuels by 2030.

Waitrose will appoint a logistics supplier to manage the distribution centre and collaborate on equipping it to meet the retailer's current and future requirements.

Waitrose currently operates from four regional distribution sites across the UK and three national distribution centres, alongside two fulfilment centres in Greater London that handle online orders.
