The centre was built by March Associates Construction, a US-based construction management operator, at a site leased by RJ Brunelli, a US-based real estate company.

It is financed by Kearny Bank, a banking service provider based in the US, and GS Wilcox, a US commercial real estate mortgage banking company.
Announced in July 2023, the Yard was opened in July 2024, offering a fresh retail experience to the community.

Its proximity to William Patterson University and more than 2,000 apartment units nearby further amplifies its potential to draw significant foot traffic.

The Yard is a retail hub with a total gross leasable area of 10,500ft2 (975.4m2). It serves as a gathering place for shoppers and offers a space for hanging out, shopping and relaxing.
The centre’s design includes landscaped areas, concrete sidewalks, smooth trowel-finished floors, decorative Cambridge paving and planters, creating an inviting atmosphere for visitors.
The Yard represents a significant addition to Wayne’s retail sector, offering a blend of modern retail experiences and community-focused amenities. Its strategic location, diverse tenant mix and expertly designed infrastructure position it as a promising destination for both businesses and consumers.
The Yard tenants’ details
The Yard hosts seven tenants, providing services from gourmet treats to health and wellness and educational support.
The tenants are Crumbl Cookies occupying approximately 1,542ft2, District Taco (1,938ft2), the European Wax Centre (1,400ft2), GNC Live Well (1,200ft2), Mathnasium (1,200ft2), Nekter Juice Bar (1,200ft2) and OHM Fitness (2,000ft2).
Crumbl Cookies is a bakery and cake company and the European Wax Centre is a skincare chain. GNC Live Well caters to health-conscious customers with its premium nutritional products, while OHM Fitness provides an advanced fitness experience with state-of-the-art facilities.
Nekter Juice Bar is a quick and nutritious option with its natural juices and smoothies, while District Taco adds a flavourful dining option with its Mexican cuisine. Mathnasium offers a dedicated space for children’s math education in the area. The mix of tenants is intended to serve a wide array of customer demands.
Contractors involved
Bohler Engineering, a construction engineering company based in the US, was contracted to provide civil engineering services, ensuring that the Yard is seamlessly integrated into the township’s landscape.
The Dietz Partnership, a full-service architecture practice based in the US, contributed to creating a design that is both visually appealing and functional for the Yard’s future patrons.
