US retail giant Dollar Tree has commenced the construction of a new distribution centre in Marietta, Oklahoma, to replace a facility destroyed by a tornado in April 2024. 

The new site will cover one million square feet and be fully operational by spring 2027.

Dollar Tree CEO Mike Creedon stated: “Today’s ground-breaking is a significant and celebratory moment for Dollar Tree and the Marietta community. 

“Our rebuilt distribution centre demonstrates our commitment to the region, which is inspired by the community’s strength and resilience.  

“We look forward to welcoming back many of our former associates, creating hundreds of new jobs for the community, and continuing to strengthen our foundation for the future.” 

The distribution centre will supply 700 Dollar Tree stores in the western and southwestern US and create 400 jobs.

Dollar Tree chief supply chain officer Roxanne Weng stated: “This distribution centre represents a renewal of our deep support for the Marietta community and an important step forward for Dollar Tree. 

“We are rebuilding this facility from the ground-up, marking a critical investment for our supply chain and ensuring long-term growth and opportunity in the region.” 

Dollar Tree has posted strong second-quarter results for 2025, reporting net sales of $4.6bn, a 12.3% increase from the same period of the previous year.

Adjusted earnings per share reached $0.77, significantly surpassing analyst expectations of $0.40. Same-store sales grew 6.5%, supported by a rise in both customer traffic and average transaction values. 

Dollar Tree employs 150,000 people and operates more than 9,000 stores and 18 distribution centres across the contiguous US and in parts of Canada, trading under the Dollar Tree and Dollar Tree Canada brands.
