Amazon is widening its delivery choices in the Netherlands by introducing Amazon Lockers, adding a collection option for shoppers using Amazon.nl.
The lockers are described as “smart and secure” pick-up points, allowing customers to conveniently collect parcels free of charge.

During checkout, shoppers can check whether an Amazon Locker is available nearby. If so, the locker can be selected as the delivery address.
When an order is delivered to a locker, Amazon sends an email containing a unique code along with the location details and opening hours.
Customers then have three days to pick up their parcel. At the locker, they can enter the code or scan a barcode to open the compartment.
Amazon said the first lockers have been placed in six Dutch shopping centres operated by Wereldhave, including Eggert Purmerend, Koperwiek Capelle aan den IJssel, and Vier Meren Hoofddorp.
Separately, Amazon is working with parking operator APCOA and property manager Aroundtown NL to add 12 more lockers in the coming weeks.
Further sites are set to follow in Alkmaar, Amstelveen, Diemen, The Hague, Rotterdam, Utrecht and Vlaardingen.
Amazon said customers can select from millions of items on Amazon.nl for free delivery to an Amazon Locker.
Amazon Netherlands country manager Eva Faict said: “We are continuously focused on improving the experience for our customers, with a wide selection, competitive prices, and fast, convenient delivery.
“Amazon Lockers are a great example of this: they provide our customers with extra flexibility for their deliveries. Whether you prefer to collect your package early or later in the day, you can do so at your convenience.”
In a separate development, European e-grocery retailer Knuspr partnered in November with Amazon.de to provide grocery delivery in Germany.
The service began in Berlin and gives Amazon Prime members access to a product range and rapid delivery supported by Knuspr’s fulfilment technology.
