Instacart said the products will carry no markups.

Instacart commercial partnerships vice-president Blake Wallace said: “Our customers expect to get what they need fast, and that’s exactly what this partnership with Academy Sports + Outdoors delivers.

“With Academy now on Instacart, our customers can get the gear they need for that last-minute camping trip or tomorrow’s game in as fast as one hour.”

More than 300 Academy stores spanning 21 US states have now been listed on the Instacart Marketplace.

According to the company, the launch has been timed by the companies to coincide with “back-to-school and fall sports to hunting season, tailgating, and outdoor adventures”.

Academy Sports + Outdoors executive vice-president and chief customer officer Chad Fox added: “From helping Always Game Families gear up for everyday moments to providing access to top national brands and exclusive private brands, our partnership with Instacart offers another convenient way to shop Academy’s broad assortment at the same great prices customers find in our stores.”

Last month, Instacart acquired Arpalus, a computer vision company focused on shelf intelligence technology for the grocery retail sector.

The acquisition was intended to improve inventory accuracy across Instacart’s e-commerce fulfilment and in-store operations.

That same month, Instacart also formed a partnership with rural lifestyle retailer Tractor Supply Company, enabling same-day delivery from more than 2,400 of the retailer’s locations across the US.

The collaboration gives customers the ability to order from Tractor Supply’s catalogue via Instacart.
