Australian supermarket chain Woolworths will add 105 products to its Lower Shelf Price programme, taking the total number of products covered by the initiative to 1,035.

The products included in the scheme, effective as of 26 August 2026, are priced an average 16.4% below their previous standard shelf prices.

Unlike temporary promotions, Lower Shelf Price involves longer-term changes to standard prices rather than limited-period discounts.

Woolworths said an A$150 ($107.47) shop consisting of Lower Shelf Price products would cost more than A$20 less than it would have under the previous standard prices.

The latest additions include a range of meal-related staples, including chicken, eggs and cheese.

Woolworths introduced Lower Shelf Price in May 2025, initially covering 400 products, and has continued to invest millions of dollars in the programme.

Woolworths Group CEO Amanda Bardwell said: “We know Australian families are looking for dependable, low prices they can count on every week. That’s why we have grown lower shelf prices to more than 1,000 everyday products.

“Lower Shelf Price is giving customers lower prices for longer, and we have seen more and more people adding these products to their trolley to spend less on everyday household essentials.”

In April, BIG W, the discount department store chain owned by Woolworths, cut prices on more than 2,000 products amid ongoing cost-of-living pressures.

Earlier this month, Woolworths began early-stage trials of facial recognition technology as the company assessed its potential use in addressing crime and violent incidents in stores.

The trials formed part of a wider retail industry effort to examine the technology as a means of protecting staff, particularly in Victoria, where major retailers have reported increasing theft and other offences.
