Target said the step is meant to help families find more “affordable options”.
In apparel and shoes, reductions span women’s, men’s, infant and toddler ranges. Target said selected items are now priced at least 20% below last year’s levels.
As an example, it cited women’s long-sleeved tees, which now cost $12 compared with $15 earlier.
The average price of women’s shoes has dropped to $35 from $40 a year ago, while nearly 70% of new items are priced below last year’s styles.
Average prices for children’s rain and winter boots are down by roughly 15% year on year.
The company has also revised its bedding range, where prices are 15% lower on average.
Threshold queen comforters are now priced at $69, down from $89, while Room Essentials queen comforters cost $40 compared with $50 previously.
Threshold performance queen sheets have moved to $50 from $55.
Target executive vice president and chief merchandising officer Cara Sylvester said: “Guests are looking for great products at an incredible value, and that’s an important part of what we aim to deliver every day.
“By continuing to lower prices across our assortment, we are making it even easier for busy families to create moments of joy this fall with the style, design and exceptional value they can only find at Target.”
In its latest quarterly results, Target reported net earnings of $1.87bn for the second quarter ended 1 August 2026, a 100.8% rise year on year.
The company also raised its full-year guidance.
In March, it announced plans to invest more than $2bn in incremental operating and capital expenditures over the coming year to support growth initiatives.
