Uber retail partnerships head Nathan Bernheim said: “As the holiday season approaches, we are making it easier to find everything from a last-minute host gift to the right appliance for a new recipe – all with the convenience of on-demand delivery.”
Customers can use the retail section of the Uber Eats app to select a participating Sur La Table store, choose either an immediate or scheduled delivery option, and track their order.
According to the statement, deliveries may arrive in as little as 25 minutes, depending on location and availability.
Shirley Collins founded Sur La Table at Seattle’s Pike Place Market in 1972.
The company now operates stores and cooking schools across the US.
Sur La Table president Dan Goldman added: “Uber Eats lets us bring that same trusted assortment to the moments when cooks need it right now. It’s a natural extension of our mission to create and spread joy through cooking, wherever and whenever cooking happens.”
The arrangement broadens Uber Eats’ retail selection beyond food and grocery products to specialist kitchenware.
In August, Uber partnered with drone delivery company Zipline to provide autonomous drone deliveries for Uber Eats customers in the US.
The service is due to begin before the end of the year, allowing users in areas where Zipline already operates to choose drone delivery for orders.
The Zipline partnership followed an agreement announced in July between Uber and five regional US grocery retailers, which added Busch’s Fresh Food Market, Hays, Lowe’s Market, Marc’s, and Piggly Wiggly to Uber Eats.
