SPAR Canada, the local division of US-based SPAR Group, has partnered with ReposiTrak to roll out Touchless Retail across Canada.

The initiative combines fixed-fee merchandising services with automated reordering driven by demand data gathered at the individual store level.

Through this service, SPAR Canada’s field staff handle shelf replenishment, product arrangement, display upkeep, and stock rotation.

Meanwhile, ReposiTrak’s ordering systems evaluate demand metrics to guide restocking actions.

Both companies first deployed the programme in the US earlier this year.

According to ReposiTrak, the Canadian iteration has been tailored to specific domestic operating conditions.

These include physical distances between urban hubs, varying regulatory and language standards across federal and provincial authorities, and a high concentration of grocery revenue within a limited number of nationwide retail chains.

SPAR Canada general manager Mindy Finegold said: “Our merchandising teams already cover ground from the Greater Toronto Area to Western and Atlantic Canada, working with a retail landscape where a small number of major banners set the standard nationally.”

The announcement highlighted that Loblaw, Empire’s Sobeys, Metro, Costco, and Walmart collectively account for approximately three-quarters of all Canadian grocery sales.

Consequently, operational execution across these retail businesses can have a material impact on a supplier’s in-store presentation and product availability.

Touchless Retail is stated to cost roughly half as much as conventional merchandising services.

The programme’s fixed-rate model is designed to offer suppliers greater cost predictability regarding travel and labour expenses when supporting retail locations across Canada, including branches situated in smaller or more isolated regions.

Suppliers can adopt Touchless Retail without adjusting their existing commercial agreements with retail partners, according to the statement.

In addition, vendors already utilising ReposiTrak’s supply-chain tools can link inventory and retail sales metrics directly to automated ordering and field merchandising tasks.

ReposiTrak provides software platforms handling compliance, traceability, risk management, and supply-chain operations for food manufacturers, wholesalers, suppliers, and retailers.

ReposiTrak chairman and CEO Randy Fields added: “Touchless Retail brings the same demand-driven ordering and professional in-store execution we built for the US market but tuned to that concentration and to a supply chain that has to cover far more ground per retailer relationship, typically at about half the cost of traditional merchandising.”
