The store spans more than 52,000ft² over three floors and has brought more than 400 colleagues into the business.
Primark CEO Eoin Tonge said: “Today’s opening in Qatar builds on that momentum and marks the milestone of our 21st market globally. Together with Alshaya Group, we’re continuing to bring Primark to new places and new customers, with a second store in Qatar to follow early next year.”
Qatar became Primark’s fourth Middle Eastern country, following its Kuwait launch in October 2025 and openings in the UAE and Bahrain this year.
The retailer is marking its first year in the region and plans to expand further across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
A second Qatar location is scheduled to open at Villaggio Mall in early 2027, while a second Kuwait store is planned for Aventura Mall.
Its first Saudi Arabian store is due to open in March 2027.
Alshaya Group CEO John Hadden said: “The response to the first Qatar store has been amazing—thank you to all our customers who joined us at the opening, and to our partners at Al Futtaim, as we continue our exciting journey with Primark.”
Last month, Primark announced plans to introduce home delivery across Great Britain for the first time.
The retailer acquired an automated fulfilment centre in Sheffield to support the channel, following what parent company Associated British Foods (ABF) described as “a detailed review”.
ABF is continuing work on plans to demerge Primark, with completion expected in December 2027.
In addition, Primark recently signed a multi-year offtake partnership with Circ. The agreement will introduce recycled polyester made from textile waste into future product ranges from 2029.
