British fishing tackle and equipment retailer Angling Direct has opened a new store in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England.

Built on a 6,500ft2 area, the store is the 30th UK location for the company in the country.

It serves a range of angling disciplines, similar to all other stores. The new store has created five full and three part-time jobs to serve its customers.

Angling Direct chief executive officer Darren Bailey said: “As we seek to cater for all anglers across the UK with a new and modern retail offering, we are continuing to strategically expand our store footprint, as well as enhance our online offering in terms of products, experience and education in order to help raise the profile of angling.”

The company has also reported high footfall across its store network as well as clocked high user numbers online.

The specialty retailer has reported a 13.3% increase in like-for-like sales in-store and 26.7% increase in online sales during the summer period from 1 June to 31 August.

Bailey added: “The summer trading conditions have been favourable with the weather having been good.

“We were delighted that both our established and new stores experienced strong footfall, which was backed up by strong like for like sales both in-store and online, delivering a record month in August.”
