Switzerland retail real turnover, adjusted for sales days and holidays, rose by 3.0% in March 2014 compared with March 2013, according to provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

In nominal terms, retail sales rose 2.2% in March 2014.

Real, seasonally adjusted turnover in the retail sector rose by 1% in March 2014 compared with February 2014. In nominal terms, retails sales rose 1.1%.

Year-on-year, (excluding fuel), retail sales, adjusted for holidays, showed an increase in real turnover of 3.1%, as against the corresponding period a year ago.

During the period, retail sales of food, drinks and tobacco registered an increase in real turnover of 0.8%

The non-food sector registered positive growth of 4%. In nominal terms, sales were up by 2.4%.
